This photo came to my attention early this morning as a gift under the inbox tree from my friend Josh. This is truly the epitome of combining soup and shoes. One day I hope to sip my chowder out of my Louis Vuittons. Happy Monday!
I’m Kiani, a contributor and co-hort of Soup For The Sole. I stick to a diet of soup, apples and greens during about 9 months of the year. Due to bad ankles and flat feet, my athletic or aerobic ambitions and abilities are limited, so eating light and walking A LOT are really the best ways for me keep my weight in check. As such, I only own about 4 pairs of shoes, all of which are extremely practical. In a manner of speaking, you could say soup and soles are part of a larger life-balance. Without further ado, yesterday’s soup.

Soup: Cream of Mushroom
From: Fairchild’s Market, Roseland, NJ
Shoes: Alvin scrunch moccasin boots (not pictured)
Feelings: giddy because there was a chocolate cake to follow for my bosses birthday to follow
I try to keep my cream soup consumption to a minimum, because consuming a bowl for of straight milk-fat sort of contradicts the core motive my eating mostly soup. That and, BLOAT. In any event, this soup was excellent, and they seem to have topped it with a little dash of paprika. Very pretty. Very yummy.
Ain’t no party like a bowling shoe party.
Went to Lucky Strike for the first time last night. I was neither lucky nor bowled strikes. But the mustard yellow tights paired with dark green socks made for an exciting ankle combination and I just couldn’t hide my thrill over these pink laces.
Mixed bean soup. Definitely not my favorite. Choose if you like bean water. I prefer food.
Carrot Basil soup from Piccolo Cafe on 37th and Madison. I generally despise carrot soup but this has just the right ratio of basil to give it the right flavor. Not my favorite but not regrets.
Today’s shoes are my favorites. Frye Motorcycle boots. Comfortable, durable and the absolute greatest pair of shoes I have ever owned.
